2028 California Olympics
What could be more exciting than the Olympics. The Olympics being hosted in California!
Logo Design
In this project my goal was to design the logo for the Olympic 2028 logo. For the logo design I wanted to capture, the beauty of sunny Los Angeles, California. “The City of Angeles,” is an inspiration for its mixed culture, diversity, and unity. The city has its signature look with its name, of skyscrapers and city lights that shine like a beacon day or night.
Pictograms
32 Pictograms
There are 41 sports in the Summer Olympics that are interpreted through pictograms to capture each sports definition through poses and actions. For my pictograms I combined the design of my Los Angeles 2028 Olympic logo into each of the 32 pictograms I have designed.
For my design I used the sharp oval shape of the wings of the sun to create the body structure in each athlete of the pictograms. For the finer details I angled the bodies for some to capture an action in motion, then added simple detailing to the sports equipment used. My aim is for the viewer to be able to see the simplicity in the design and ability to identify their favored sport and events.
Advertising Posters
For my Olympic posters, I wanted to capture the unity and diversity that LA has, and I wanted to capture the interest of the audience from advertising. I stylized my artwork based on pop art, stylizing the brand objects from coca cola and adidas, then applied it to the people in my general poster.
This style was used because I wanted to make the brands stand out more, than just photoshopping things together. Now the general or main poster has more elements such as the silhouetted city of Los Angeles and multiple people. This directs the idea of Los Angeles and its diversity and unity of the people of different color.
